A gift of knowledge from a six year old
This year, Alison Pablo will be going to the Philippines to visit an elementary school library that she helped establish. With the help of Books for the Barrios she was able to fill a public elementary school library with updated books donated by Americans and other good samaritans in Union City, CA. Her efforts benefited 800 pupils in Bulacan. She's only six years old.
Thanks for the scoop on Books for the Barios. What an interesting organization! This is exactly what I'm trying to do for our bario. We have a new library that was funded by expats now we are in the process of filling it with books. Your post about Books for the Bario is great inspiration for me.
ReplyDeleteI sent the link to the organization to some of my relatives in the Bay Area. Maybe they can help them out.
JMom,
ReplyDeleteI also am interested in sending books back home and this site gave me a lot of ideas. Good luck in empowering the members of your hometown through the gift of knowledge.
