Books for the Barrios needs help

When I was with the Department of Social Welfare and Development - CAR (DSWD-CAR) I was able to travel to remote barrios in the Cordilleras. I saw, first hand, how hard life was and the toll it has taken on its community members.

A barrio in Kalinga that I visited was in the same dire condition. I remember the faces of two pupils slowly turning the page on an outdated textbook ever careful not to tear the already brittle pages. I saw their eagerness to learn but because they live in a remote community education is hard to come by.

An organization here in the US is helping out poor barrios back home. An organization that was established 20 years ago and has helped more than 18,000 children with the 9 million books and materials.
